The Nigeria Family Planning Conference
The Nigeria Family Planning Conference has become instituted as a biennial conference that focuses on bringing all family planning (FP) stakeholders to discuss and share experiences, discuss the progress made and chart the way forward towards improving the existing situation of FP. Since inception, the conference has continued to receive broad and active participation from diverse sectors. Some milestones have been recorded from previous conferences one of such is the provision of free FP services in all public sector facilities and the commitment of funds by the federal government for FP program.
With high fertility rate, low rate of family planning uptake and stagnation in the contraceptive prevalence rate over the last 10 years, and high unmet needs for family planning, there is the need to continue to put FP as a priority both for the government and for public discourse using high level events like the Nigerian Family Planning Conference (NFPC).
